BSV Challenge

Baking Soda and Vinegar Challenge

The blue cohort agreed that the best combination of 50 grams of vinegar and baking soda was 10 grams of baking soda and 40 grams of vinegar. We got to these results by running 5 different tests of different combinations of vinegar and baking soda. The results we got for this test was 50.5 milligrams, where the rest of them were at least 20 less milligrams. The reason why we thought this trial worked the best was because when we tried the opposite, 40 grams of baking soda and 10 grams of vinegar, there was still a lot of dry baking soda left sitting on the bottom of the tube. The amount of vinegar needs to be more because it needs to soak through all the baking soda and reach the baking soda on the very bottom of the tube. If we did this experiment again our group would probably try using less baking soda and even more vinegar. We would also try to find the exact, perfect combination of the two.

We split up into 2 seperet chort groups. our group had 4 trials. the best one for us was trial 4. When we did our experiment the best trial was 10g-baking soda 40g vinegar. When we put the ingredients in, the Ping-Pong ball shot up really fast. But eventually it slowed down and eventually stopped at 50 millimeters.
